for those who likes this doc watch?v=R-wdHizE2VM watch?v=_8eU77XvhZ8 watch?v=NU0lwuT_oqQ watch?v=GubH-kNO31E Seven years ago, on his third trip to the Black Sea, Dr. Robert Ballard discovered a miraculously well-preserved Byzantine shipwreck, but his team could only take pictures. Now, Ballard returns with state-of-the-art technology and a revolutionary $1.5 million robot known as "Hercules" to excavate two shipwrecks for the first time ever, including one of the most pristine ancient vessels ever found. Ballard and his team have only two weeks, so they must work in perfect precision on their hunt for the Ghost Ships of the Black Sea.

*BTW, ANOTHER NAME FOR THE BYZANT INE EMPIRE IS "THE EASTERN ROMAN EMPIRE". THE REASON WHY THE BYZANTINE EMPIRE IS SUPPOSEDLY "KNOWN LESS ABOUT", AS THE PROGRAM SAID, IS NOT BECAUSE WE ACTUALLY KNOW LESS ABOUT IT, BUT RATHER IT IS LESS POPULARIZED IN OUR TIMES AS A HISTORICAL ITEM. WHY? B/C, OF ALL THINGS, MODERN DAY POLITICS TRYT TO KILL AN EMPIRE OF THE PAST. NOTHING ELSE THAT EXISTED SO LONG AGO REACHES OUT FROM THE PAST TO GIVE SUCH A BIG BUTT HURT TO TWO ENTITIES OF TODAY: THE MODERN DAY CATHOLICS MORTALLY ABHORE THE BYZANTINE EMPIRE. BECAUSE TODAY'S EASTERN ORTHODOX CHRISTIANITY, WHICH IS THE CHRISTIANITY WHICH DOES HOT KISS THE BUTT OF THE POPE IN THE VATICAN, HAD ITS START IN THE BYZANTINE EMPIRE. THE CATHOLICS HATE, HATE, HATE THE BYZANTINE EMPIRE SO MUCH THAT IN CATHOLIC SCHOOLS, AT ALL EDUCATIONAL LEVELS, THEY ACTUALLY SAY THAT THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS THE BYZANTINE EMPIRE. CHALLENGE THEM WITH THE FACTS OF THE KNOWN HISTORICAL TERRITORY AND ACRCHEOLOGICAL ARTIFACTS, AND THE CATHOLICS REPLY, "OH, THAT IS SIMPLY SOMETHING THAT WAS DURING A PARTICULAR TIME, THAT'S ALL IT WAS. AND THE HISTORIANS REFER TO IT THAT WAY AS A MERE CONVENIENCE.". NO MORE MORONIC WORDS THAN THOSE EXISTED, BECAUSE EVERYTHING IN THE PAST EXISTED DURING A PERIOD OF TIME, AND HAS A NAME. THE SECOND MODERN DAY KILLERS OF THE BYZANTINE EMPIRE ARE THE ENGLISH. WHY ON EARTH THEY? BECAUSE OF AN INHERENT DEEP SEATED JEALOUSY THEY HARBOR FOR ALL EMPIRES OTHER THAN THEIR OWN. BECAUSE HOW WOULD ANYONE IN THE PAST HAVE DARED TO MAKE ANY EMPIRE BIGGER THAN THEIRS. DIDN'T THOSE PEOPOLE IN THE PAT KNOW THAT IN THE FUTURE THERE WOULD BE A BRITISH EMPIRE, AND SO THEY SHOULD KEEPO THEIRS SMALL SO AS TO NOT SURPASS THE BRITISH? THAT IS ACTUALLY THE RIDICULOUS THING AT THE BOTTOM OF THAT MORTAL HATE FOR THE BYZANTE EMPIRE. THEIR SHIT GETS COMPLICATED TOO, BECAUSE THEY DO ACTUALLY RECOGNIZE ONLY TWO EMPIRES, THE ORIGINAL ROMAN EMPIRE, AND THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE. OH, THEY KNOW OF THE THIRD REICH TOO, BUT THE ENGLISH WERE THE VICTORS THERE, THANKS TO THE UNITED STATES.*

I cant believe Dr Ballard said that !!! I would have assumed he would have known that water is inhabited by anaerobic bacteria which disintegrate sinking remains of the upper layer marine life. So no flesh or bone will ever be found in that water . I am really shocked that Dr. Robert Ballard don't know that and would make such a public statement . Well I guess everyone makes mistakes.

HELLENICS ARE THE BULGARIANS - NOT THE GREEKS. AND THE VERY WORD "HELLENIC" IS OF ANCIENT BULGARIAN ORIGIN. YOU "GRREKS" ARE COLONISATORS FROM ANATOLIA FROM AROUND  2500 BC (OTHERS SAY YOU ARE JUST FROM 1500 BC). YOU ARE THE TRUE TURKS, i.e. ANATOLIANS.  BULGARIANS = ANCIENT THRACIANS/PELASGIANS. ugh... he is also so f-ing clueless about so much. NO, it is NEVER going to happen that an "arm appears." Jeebus... bodies wouldn't break down externally but the insides are protected from the toxic external water, the gut bacteria would still burst the intestines etc. AND SURPRISE, SURPRISE... the bodies float up after a few days. They'll sink again eventually but the amount of decay that would happen in the normal layers would mean that the best you'd get in the toxic layers would be bones with a bit of goop on them... not whole people like they just died yesterday.
Leslie Lang (1 year ago)
I would disagree with what you wrote. In stratified water bodies, victims will stay in the bottom layers. Depending on where these things happen, the bodies are preserved. The Great Lakes is one example of this. The bodies on the Edmund Fitzgerald are still down there. They don't decay like they do on the Titanic. Those bodies were broken down by critters who needed the calcium. They didn't float up. The Black Sea has remarkable chemistry which allows for things to be perfectly preserved.
SomewhatStaid (2 years ago)
...unless someone got caught in the rigging, stuck in the hold, shut inside a cabin, pinned under something, or any one of thousands of reasons why a body would never float up. No such scenario is likely by itself but they add up to a conceivable chance.

oh god this man has one super stupid ego... "helped pioneer [the rov's] design years ago.." BULL SHIT. He used them... yes. Design them? No. Pioneer anything other than having enough wealthy patrons to pay his sorry ass, no. JHC this guy annoys me. I mean, sure, he found the titanic - or rather he was able to hire the right people to find her. He got his face in front of the cameras. He got the glory, not the technical people who made the actual discovery. This man is a fundraiser, basically. He is able to convince people to pay for his expeditions - just like every other person who ever did anything called an "expedition." The real heroes and discoverers are the people doing the real work. Not some jack ass loud mouth who can't even be bothered to stay on board.
The Duder (2 years ago)
Try looking into his claims before assuming. You may be surprised at exactly how involved he really was in the design of the rov. And he wasn't on board not because it would be a bother. He has this thing called a business to run. It is pretty much how he got the funding to design the rov, as well as put food on his family's table. He got the glory because it was his deal. His search. When was the last time you heard anyone thank or even mention the employees at electric production plants for work being done in quantum mechanics. You know, the field of study which made the very device you used to watch this video, a possibility. You see, outside of mathematical calculations, electricity is mandatory in the pursuit of knowledge of the quantum world. But thanks to the plant's workers never goes out. And why? Because those employees are not the ones making the discoveries in quantum physics. They are a part of the system, the same as the workers in this video. But I assure you, they were thanked in person, by the very man you illogically accused of being merely a "fund raiser". They were thanked as well, by the HUGE pay checks they received, and continued to receive on the next dive they assisted in for that same guy. Look into his career. There is some need to know info out there. Didn't even read the credits after the documentary did you? These days, employees should be thankful to be employed. A business owner can be around his entire life. But employees can be replaced at almost any moment. Especially with unemployment rates as high as they currently are. Us business owners thank our employees for doing THEIR job, not for the matters we are involved in. Sorry, but I must remain honest. Your comment appears to be rife with jealousy. I'm curious. Is it his ability to work from another location than the job site that caused the jealousy? Or is it the realization that perhaps you have not made decisions in your life that would enable you to work over an internet connection that triggered it? (If you would have stuck to facts, I would have passed right by your apparent jealous motives. But you did not make an effort to learn anything what so ever about the guy before looking down upon him.)
RampantArtist (3 years ago)
ha.. great gig... I want a camera like that for work so I can be in charge of my job but I'M NOT THERE!! Woot!
RampantArtist (2 years ago)
It isn't surprising that you're even too stupid to understand the joke I made. Poor lil' dullard. I'll let you go look it all up in those books with the big words. Too bad there chum... not even a good try. I have advanced degrees in both science and art, have my own house and run a business I own... and running well I might add. Oh, didn't expect that huh? Awww. thanks, you're just a ball of sugar... regurgitated sugar, but I won't pick nits. It would be a help to that frail brain to read up on some critical theory so that you too can actually have a real conversation about the artists you so poorly attempt to smear. They're all in the history books, most living quite well too... Oh I am sure you have heard of a few of those "not understood artists" - Koons a name you know? I believe his income is in the 6 figure range... what about hurst? Tsk tsk... should I wait for you to google those? Nah, you bore me. Sad little insect.

Phil Weatherley (18 days ago)
This is because the producers cannot resist the temptation to create tension and crisis in the narration and in the absurd "drama music" accompanying the video.. to try to make it more interesting for those with short attention-span. It is a recurrent property in US produced material. Programming is broken-up by advertising insertions. This fact adds to the general short-term memory deficit in audiences. It is a shame since it contributes to the dumbing-down effect of current TV work productions.

The "mystery timber" looks more like the crossbeam at the top, as shown in the ancient carving at 46:05 . also at the beginning at 1:10 - 16 you can see a square peg hole at the top for a cross piece , as well as a large notch lower down on another mast that seems to be for a large cross beam.

To inform is not to convince, it is a choice of understanding and enlightening one's self to other possibilities then what is taught in a proven, failed left brain schooling system.  Remember the movie = The Waterboy ? Think of it like this: Mama got the brain pain coach!!! Did you believe her or not?  Educating yourself of other possibilities is what leads you to finding out for yourself what is true and what is false, don't take anyone's word for it, it's your own responsibility to seek things out. Most people take advice from one hit wonders who get paid to debunk truths instead of searching, why?  http://www.end-times-prophecy.org/end-times-news.html Because most are afraid of what others will think of them, it takes courage to live in this world and be yourself, yet how many really live? When your faced with a piece of information backed by "Scripture", take the time to look it over. The soul you save might be your own, yet no one should tell you what's what OK. Have a nice day... www.ra-el.net?  The choice is yours...  Love God <3 Love each other <3

'IMPORTANT'!!!!....I wanted it to comment on this Documentary about " The World's Deadliest Arms Race" But They close the comments on this Documentation...  Well.... The administration of the Arm Forces. I think they are.  They say that they are using jamming devices to jam the circuit or macanism of the IEDs to prevent from exlpoding.... but the talibans, always come up with something different so, the jammer or metal detector can't pick the IEDs. I'm sure The Arm Forces will come up with somthing for that, But can't they invent some kind of laser beam that when mapping  the terrain in front of a vehicle the laser can explode the IED. just like The Air Force uses that kind of connon beam on a jumbo airplane to explode the missiles. I'm sure it will be expensive, but that don't matter when saving US soldiers.
I Hate the Party (5 years ago)
The Black Sea, like the Red Sea, has a bottom composed of the calcareous skeletons of microscopic Foraminiferans, which constantly drift down and collect on the sea bottom, forming a soft "ooze" which a human could NOT possibly walk on. This disproves the entire B.S. of Moses and the Israelites walking over the bottom of the Red Sea (with lobsters biting at their ankles, ha-ha). Thus mucky white muck eventually becomes compressed to form LIMESTONE, one of the commonest rocks on earth. So, thanks again all you Foraminifera and Radiolarians out there for providing us with all the rocks we use for building roads and residences!

They thought themselves as romans , byzantines were named after later scholars in the West. The eastern roman empire kept the name until the end, eventhough latin was not spoken there , but greek common language,as the greeks dominated there from ancient times. The western remnants of the roman empire, surviving through the papal state, and german nations, gealously questioned the eastern emperors authority over europe and the world. These ships prove the continuation of commerce between greek cities during centuries, especially when the Black sea was another greek sea.Very interesting video .

smokinone951 (5 years ago)
you also need to realize that when a dead body begins to decompose on the inside the gases created cause the body to rise to surface then get carried by current until gas escapes and body sinks again. i dont know if that toxic layer would affect that process, but i do know thats what happens with weighted bodies (murdered) that decompose enough that the area thats tied just breaks off allowing the body to rise up.
elbowbiter1 (5 years ago)
Because people abandon ship... or tend to cling to the last floating thing... they sink in different places than the boat... and then come the crabs and other bottom feeders. That's where your bodies go. Also... ask yourself what happens to the bones in top side archaeology... they only find bones some of the time and that's in easy top side sites. Bones can erode to dust... your skeleton... will be very unlikely to be around in 1000 years. Especially if you get buried in semen and puke as is the brony tradition.

"Rome used to view Egypt as an ancient civilization, and would play tourist at the pyramids." So did the Greeks. Herodotus being a famous example. Yet neither them or the Romans, or the subsequent Egyptians for that matter could or were willing to build similar structures. In addition, the ancient Greeks, for all their accomplishments in philosophy and science, learned geometry and how to cut stone and thus build those beautiful temples from the Egyptians. They also learned astronomy and algebra from the Babylonians. In fact, the Egyptians being such and ancient civilization witnessed and quite possibly helped create two births of Aegean culture and civilization. Likewise, it is thought that the taking of Constantinople by the Turks and the subsequent exodus of scholars and books triggered the Renaissance in the West. Sometimes it pays to have a stable yet "stuck in time" civilization. In the long run.

On a modern ship, "space-nutritional value" isn't much of a concern. We generally don't survive on hardtack and saltpork anymore. A vessel the size of the Alliance has a very well-stocked galley, with large walk-in freezers and refrigerators. In fact, since there isn't much else to do on-board, but work, eating great meals, with fresh ingredients, are pretty much the highlight of your day. Which is good, because it's true; food always tastes better on a ship.
roger watson (5 years ago)
have you ever noticed that when it comes to the black sea new discoveries come out in a trickle ? there's probably thousands of wrecks so well preserved that the sails or even cargo will be preserved but all we ever see is blurry photos of a log or a mast on a "shallow" wreck. i guess if they find something deep and spectacular it will make most archaeology so boring there funding will dry up . the other thing is why does there equipment always seem to break down just at the wrong time?
mrjules2008 (5 years ago)

James william- there is a God and one day you will meet him and you will acknowledge his existance. weather you want to believe he's real or not. Think if it this way; its kinda like saying you don't believe in water, even tho it's all around you . So it would be a wise choice to change your beliefs. Just telling you for your best enterest man.
